The original inspiration traces back to 2016, when a lightweight storyboard editor prototype was built at Artenergy.com to streamline creative reviews for an online animated series.
Fast-forward to 2024: the landscape had exploded with more creators, more remote teams, and more content than ever before. But somehow, visual pre-production tools hadn’t kept up.
So we rebuilt StoryBoom from the ground up as a fully collaborative web app—with the goal of making professional storyboarding faster, simpler, and more affordable for everyone.
In April 2025, we officially launched the StoryBoom Free Starter Plan, and we deliberately made it powerful enough for real production use.

They used our platform to build, revise, and present entire animation sequences—for dozens of scenes—without leaving the web browser.
Every storyboard for the show has been built inside StoryBoom—from pilot episode to full production. The team continues to use the app to plan, review, and evolve their narrative with precision and flexibility.
